I've recently been liking some of the tape manipulated sounds in artist like Mauthausen Orchestra. The grimy,lo-fi,rotten sounds.
im not looking for the early arty tape music.
just Raw gross tape sounds.

Care to share some other artists with this sound other then just MO? Cant think of much else but im very interested in seeing tapes used to make harsh sounds and not just releases where tape recording quality makes it grimy

Have you heard Pietro Mazzocchin's stuff?
They sound very similar, but hey, they collaborated on Lyoto Music.
The New Sadism sounds like the b side on Murderfuck, Swastika Kommando is similar to Anal Perversions, and his approach to synths on Observation Clinique is more minimal than Bianchi!

Dead Body Love is a really good project too. Lo-fi, repetitive and/or wallish.
I wouldn't call it grimy, more crunchy.

Thanks.
Lyoto Music is one of my favorite albums actually. The New Sadism and Swastika Kommando are artists i've been meaning to check out, so i'll do so shortly.
And I also love Dead Body Love,he's the best at that minimal static noise style. But I don't hear any tape sounds in his releases

Where we you reccomend starting with Alleypisser? I've heard of this project but never checked it out.

Hard to say as I haven't really listened this project that much either... En Tragedie is also heavy on the tape loops and both tapes are very good. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vp65_wfuTSQ

Not necessarily what you're looking for (certainly nothing like MO) but at least matches "rotten and lo-fi and has noticable tape sounds" quite nicely. Especially Alleypisser.

Liver Mortis has some decent MO worship. Some synth wankery on earliest tapes but to me "The Ideal Pain-Forms" is the best modern alternative for MO. Sadly all their tapes are quite rare these days. There's one track from "Suited Treatment" on YT: https://youtu.be/u-dswkUThQE

I think Mikko recently mentioned on the playlist thread that some Painted Woman works are quite close to MO too... Maybe something to look into?

That video is all I've heard from Liver Mortis unfortunately. I was late to TF/PE before there tapes disappeared.
And i can never find liver mortis, swollen korps, or pleasure fluids on discogs.Fucking sucks.Seemed like a great label. And no soundcloud or bandcamp remaining either.

Listened to Alleypisser(Sult). Lo-fi and moody, really good.Posh Isolation feel. Also checked out Blodvite. Wasn't dissapointed with that project either.

Discogs is the best place to find True Force/Pain Electronics tapes. Admittedly a lot of the time prices are high but occasionally if the Gutter editions appear the prices are ok. Though at the moment on discogs the prices for most of those tapes are a bit crazy. No idea if the label will re-start the gutter editions once they release new material (which is happening sometime soon, no specific date given but it will happen).

Yeah.... is $36 worth it for Swollen Korps - Erect in blood

Hmmmm, it's a very good tape and I listen to it regularly. Due to the interest in the label it might be difficult to find it for much cheaper. I'm surprised there are no tracks of it on youtube, couldn't find any. I'm pretty sure there wasn't a gutter edition re-issue of that tape so if you have money to burn it is great tape. But it's still quite a bit.

i usually at most spend $25 on a tape. i try to spend like just 100 a month on music. And im
buying gear soon too. Maybe i'll just wait for a liver mortis tape.

Do any of the tf/pe guys go on this forum?

don't mean to toot my own horn (too much ;) ) but my current setup is all tape based & still pretty harsh. you can see it in action here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=macP4JcrCDA with harsh parts coming in ~6m30s

edit to clarify: the sounds are all mixed live from  prerecorded 4-tracked sources. the source sounds are all 'concrete,' acoustic objects (+some guitar) recorded straight to tape. no distortions or any effects aside from tape loops and gain.

Maybe I should post this to the hidden gems thread (http://www.special-interests.net/forum/index.php?topic=5879.msg47619#msg47619) but I'll just leave it here as I find it quite similar to MO, at least in some parts. Comes with nice 20 page art zine and sounds are very primitive. Another similar projects are, previously mentioned Liver Mortis and also Blood Ov Thee Christ. Yes, it's THAT good. There was a copy on Discogs for 15€ but seems like it was just sold.
