The first cut creeps in suggestively on a blanket of quiet power. signals through the fog develop into a deep crackle & hum, a steady saw, a throb, and a drone that gradually alters texture and pitch, washing through a phaser into an engine purr and distant thunder. an airplane high overhead, and thunder rolls closer until, round and sensuous, it returns us to a distant voice.

The sounds are restful but always alive, staying for a while and moving on.

In gripper, a high-pitched but never grating note acquires overtones that slowly descend. the sound is layered subtly so that even at its fullest it is never busy, nervous or bombastic. long notes that slide into one another vary gradually in pitch, volume, texture and duration.

In plague of wolves, brushes dust cymbals over a refrigerator hum that deepens and extends; an emotionally neutral  voice quietly forecasts weather and, after an interlude of lovely alternating tones, morphs into a list of numbers. the sound becomes more commanding, and we move from motorized gongs to a diving airplane, muffled gongs, and a throbbing drone which varies in texture and pitch for the remainder of the composition.

The fourth selection extends these modes further.

Any potentially abrasive sound is presented smoothly in an overall composition that varies the drone concept continually to keep the ear interested, and is perfect for either attentive or ambient listening.
