I'll usually take grape over grain. Apple and pear over grain as well. The odd beer's okay on the right occasion but cider and wine are always fine. Cream whiskey too.

my appreciation of australia is stuck in the seventies, so see your stance as brave and contra the beerhall experience in 'wake in fright'
dunno about crean whiskey, but if it's whisley with added cream, then you are on your own.

After a day of disentangling orders, one more complicated than the other, the next bigger than the previous, I went down the local for some football. Multiple pints of Guinness later I'm sloshed and it's fucking great. Whiskey next. Monkey Shoulder first.

I'm having a Merlot from Languedoc which is quite unsual but i like it a lot: Les Persiennes (Famille Clos-Pujol). Cherry and chocolat on the palate. Prune and a bit of soil in the nose. Very rich. 13% Excellent.

hopefully Jameson?!  had to look up Monkey Shoulder.  scotch then.

cheers!

Haven't had any Jameson in the house for some time but there's plenty of other stuff. Laphroaig, Dalmore, Glenmorangie and I was given an 18 year Highland Park for my birthday a few years ago. There's Jack Daniels and Makers Mark. One of the few benefits of my cunt of an ex was that she introduced me to whiskey.

Stuff like Bailey's, I meant.

And sadly Australian pubs, at least in the cities, have long ceased being beer-and-blood barns. These days it's all craft beer and tapas and "quirky" renovations and New chef! New menu! and shit like that.
