RODGER STELLA 'Kosmische Dub + Reich/Riley' double cassette out now on Second Layer Records.
Double cassette featuring 2 full length 'remix' pieces by Rodger Stella.
The first cassette, Kosmische Dub, is essentially King Tubby instrumentals mixed with Cluster tracks. The tracks are pitched together into one sparse, syrup-paced piece of abstract music that will appeal to fans of kosmische, DJ Screw and opiates. Very alien sounding and hard to define. The samples should speak for themselves.
The second cassette, Reich/Riley, is based around a similar method of mixing although the resulting music is fuller and retains the atmosphere of the original pieces (Reich's 'Four Organs' and Riley's 'Shri Camel').
The cover collages, made by Rodger Stella and Bryan Martin, use source images from various 70's sci-fi book cover illustrations by Barry Pepper. The set also includes an A6 double-sided card insert with the original Kosmische Dub artwork. Limited edition of 200 copies.
