There was a topic on the question of CDs and its resurgence, I read it a couple days ago but can't find it anymore...

So, I wanted advices from people who still release CDs, on good sites to print small quantity (I was thinking of 100 copies) for cheap, or affordable prices.
I'm searching online but I only find really expensive costs.
I use TapeMuzik in Germany when it comes to tape, but never released any CDs yet. I like this format and am quite curious to know more about it.

I have in mind a digipack with booklet. And if there are site out there allowing any kind of visuals to print for the cover, whether it's offensive, violent or with sexual content.

I guess Freak Animal could be able to answer since a lot of releases were CDs. If there are good plans in Europe it would be preferable.

Thank you all in advance!

There was also a pressing plant thread recently. Edit: found it, guess it's a vinyl thread but maybe CDs came up: http://www.special-interests.net/forum/index.php?topic=8646.0

I don't think any company will print 100 actual CDs. Most will print 100 CDr. That's the difference. CD=replication. CDr=duplication.

This does 100 http://monotypepressing.pl/index.php/digipack-single-cd/ but the total cost difference between 100 to 200 or 300 is not much.

Dont know if this price is considered OK, neither about their services.

Some companies will print minimum 100. Try 8merch, mobineko, duplication.ca... 8merch don't seem fussed on explicit content.

Neons Fanzine

Thank you! And 8merch is not that expensive
Still a bit more than tapes, but just trying to figure out what format could be interesting for different visuals and recordings etc
Especially someone not minding explicit material is really precious nowadays

Urban Noise

Used Mobineko (several vinyl releases from 100 to 205 copies each), 8merch (Azagatel CD 200 copies) and Monotypressing (Kosmodrom CD 200 copies) all with great results.

I'll try 8merch now.

Mobineko is good, but they send from Hong Kong, could b taht you have to fill out a Custom Clearance. Happend to me with a Circle of Ouroborus CD i did in the Past.

i used TapeMuzick a lot when they called audioservice, but they raised the prices too much.

Most of European factories that do 100 or 200 copies, cost pretty much the same. It's up to choose who you want to work with. If one has exceptionally brutal artwork, then one may look into pressing only discs, and doing the booklets somewhere where it won't cause hassle. For example, whether the pressing plant cares personally, there may be laws in some european countries that make it unnecessary risk for them to press small pressing of filthy noise with questionable symbols or other such things.
Most places are brokers anyway, and do not actually own the CD pressingplant themselves. Some of them may do disc at factory and packaging elsewhere and might be flexible and all sorts of obscene nudity may not be issue.

I have said it before, but I think major point of publishing obscene releases is not where it is "easy and cheap". People who do not want to put the effort or money into project, because it might be slightly difficult or costly, should not do such releases. Making exceptional releases comes with the price.

There is another topic here about small pressings and people are complaining about pressing times with 8merch... maybe they're not as good option as before. Take that in mind.

I believe everybody always looks for the best quality. And let's be honest, many times the final result is not what we're expecting. That's a bit out of our hands as soon as we send the files to the factory.

with pressed CD, it's rarely drastically different results from factory to another.
Jewelbox pretty much the same. With printworks, I would say 8 merch and monotype are pretty much flawless.

All my CD releases from past few years were made via Monotype. They are solid.

Examples:
INCAPACITANTS ‎– Mon, Ma? Mon!!!
MACRONYMPHA ‎– Studio 95
HEINZ HOPF – Gothenburg
VA ‎– Hard Panning
SEWER ELECTION ‎– Wreck
MAAAA ‎– Abhorrence And Dismay

GEWALTMONOPOL

Agreed on Monotype.

I warn everyone of 8Merch. Brief snooty emails demanding copyright forms for the benefit of GEFA etc and no answer to further questions. Why the fuck would people like us want the worlds copyright institutions to have a say in what we do? Awful service. Avoid!

Go with Monotype.
