I live in an apartment/flat. People above and Below me. I know the sound from above travels easily. I can hear the person upstairs just walking about with their shoes quite loudly...

Playing music is one thing but im concerned about yelling into a mic/amp...;)

i used to live in a house and it was not so much of a problem making noise but now im more worried....dont care so much about what neighbors think about me but also dont really want to be kicked out.

if i was to hire a studio/practice room it seems i would have to force all my ideas at once which would be unnatural! maybe i could prerecord some synth noise at home and then do vocals there? still it pisses me off...

right in my living room. if my wife is home and is not in the mood to hear anything, I put on headphones.

are you doing vocals?

Soloman Tump

Usually in my garage where I have installed some basic soundproofing and can get some privacy to work.  Sometimes I move into the house if its empty, and if its cold in the garage....

Extra room in our house, not soundproof. Neighbours know what i do and don't come knocking on the door any longer when i do vocals, asking if they should call an ambulance

When I don't need amps in my living room/studio. I have two big tables where I can place lots of stuff.

Alternatively, when PA is needed In the drum room of this place, where I record also all vocals and junk noise... It is pretty close.

the room I use, is not near the real reharsal rooms so no morons in the background playing covers

I remember reading some William Bennett interview where he suggested recording vocals in a car :D

It works! The last thing a PE artist wants to do is offend someone

I've been recording in the basement of my current house. It is cold, dark, and resembles a crack dungeon so it helps with getting in the proper mood. I have roommates so I try do metal abuse, feedback, and vocals between 11AM to 8PM. They haven't complained... yet. The dogs are the ones who tend to have a problem. Its a pretty sweet situation.

In my garage, where I can scream and jump around like an idiot.
In the winter, I will sometimes record in the living room with headphones.
