Political correctness gone mad, all right - someone held to the ground and pepper sprayed by the police for wearing a t-shirt.
Shikata ga nai.

They also sell golly wogs in the same days.

Haha. You don't mess with traditions! I wonder what they would do to him if he'd claimed santa claus was a pedophile.

Btw, some Swedish racist candy that's been debated the past months:

The Golliwog is still popular in Britain and can be found quite easily from online sellers. I think it was last year I bought one for my womans birthday. Sold by an awfully posh furniture store down the road from me.

This place does them in Tartan. http://www.gollydollies.co.uk/

For some it wasn't enough to have them removed from Robertson's jam jars. As this 65 year old grandmother found out. http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/oct/24/golliwog-race-charges-dropped-jena-mason

Fazer is actually finnish and they have other racially stereotypish candy's too.

And don't forget Neekerin Suukko = Negro's Kiss(Name was changed few years ago though hah)

Fazer is certainly Finnish and the Kinapuff is one of their most popular products in Sweden. It's something I enjoyed very much as a child and due to the recent upset over the happy Chinaman (or is it a Chinagirl) in the logo I reaquainted myself with it when I was back in September. It's alright.

I remember some 15 years ago when one album wonder Jakob Hellman walked the streets of Beijing with a camera and asked people to say "ching chong pling plong". All of them, albeit it a bit bewildered, did it with a giggle. That was on national Swedish TV and no one got upset. It was silly and funny.

Paedo Santa would probably be alright in Belgium. In Holland maybe not.

At least two of them were given me by Afro-Europeans who could take a joke.

Neekerin Suukko

Mikko sent me one of those a few years ago.

Seriously, I want the racist candy from Denmark!

FreakAnimalFinland

I don't know if these are particularly racist, since they portray the in good light? Tasty, soft, sweet, kiss of the negro? Like said, nowadays they are simply called "suukko" = kiss. With two negroes still in image, though.

I guess one good case of "PC faggotry" would be heavy metal band Helvetes Port from sweden playing show in Kouvola/Finland, and story goes they made some racist jokes and some good old salutes, and suddenly there is local Blood & Honour crew and some utterly drunken metallers hailing on stage and off stage, haha! And THAT went not only to local newspaper, but also the tabloids sold in all newstands. I mean, drunk hailing? What's new? I guess it's merely "news" in climate as we have now.

Which reminds me... all you Swedes will doubtlessly recall the public outrage (fuelled by the gov't sponsored organisation Centre against Racism) around five years ago, when the major icecream manufacturer here - GB - introduced Nogger Black, a licorice version of their popular Nogger (nougat) icecream. GB were accused of propagating racisist stereotypes by using that brand name (Nogger=Nigger), coupled with the fact that the logo used for advertising was done graffiti style (associations to black street culture are of course inevitable). They rallied for consumer boycott, and quite predictably Nogger Black went off the market soon enough. Too bad, since it quickly became a favorite of mine.

Around the same time some genius brought up the fact the another of GB's longstanding bestsellers is called 88:an (The 88), which supposedly was a covert appraisal of a certain fuehrer (H*** H*****). However, this claim fell on its own absurdity and media didn't pick up on this one, so to this day we can still enjoy an 88 in the sun.

Antique stores in my town are full of little figurines like that. There's a place called "Lost In Sports" that has a section totally dedicated to 1890s-1930s "Black Face" memorabilia. Pretty great. Same store also has a section revolving around nice selection of 3rd Reich items, kind of makes you wonder about the tastes of the owners.

No shit? I need to visit that place again. Haven't been in there for ages.

So there's sort of pie in here that could be translated as "nigger baby" and the same title is written in shops and so on and I hope that nobody cares..
