catching up with artists who you have not "followed"?

Amount of stuff, and limited amount of time, usually results that one can't keep up with things. New artists coming, new releases coming and a lot of times noticing some guy who you used to buy/listen, have done ton of releases meanwhile.

Occasionally, reason to stop following may have been that it feels as if there was "enough of this". Rather than to buy out of habit, moving on to get other kind of stuff. Sometimes also artists do not mature well in this age.

Recently I had handful of very good experiences realizing how good some of noise artists are, who I have not been consciously following that much.

ASTRO "Far In The Distance" cd
It is not like Astro would have been bad. It was never something that I would somewhat obsessively want to get all, like say CCCC. Some Astro felt too easy synth oscillations, while other stuff is great. This new CD that just came out, I put it on CD player with no expectations, and was very positively surprised how good noise release it was! Graphic design in like some sort of space music, but you got somewhat personal take to noise soundscapes here. On same label, there is one of the quite new Government Alpha CD's that was also damn good!

ARMENIA "Omnis Anima Malus" cd
Mr. Sabatto, man of hundreds of noise CDR's, has been churning endless stream of harsh noise for years. Not really knowing if there are something that should be grabbed. New Swedish label put out not only this CD, but also LP by Armenia and CD by Sabatto's side project Amplexus. Omnis Anima Malus has a bit of "digitally boosted" type of crispy and sharp overall atmosphere, but the noises and the level of harshness is very good in this one. There are some really strong tracks on the album, that brings instantly in my mind the old best moments of Incapacitants. Style varies on album, and its not all like that, but everything is harsh noise.  Still got to check the Armenia "Necropolis" LP. It seems good that some label had guts to invest into seemingly absurd publishing ideas like 400 copies LP, on 4 different color vinyls, or 500 copies of basic jewelbox CD!

Positively surpriced when catching up with old artists who you stopped following, consciously or unconsciously?

Sewer Election - Blizzard Amplification 2xCD - At some point around 2010 I stopped buying Sewer Election releases because it felt like everything was sold out before I could ever buy it and then re-sold for crazy money. I've never disliked an SE release but I just gave up trying to get them, at least until this 2CD came out last year. What a wonderful re-introduction into the project. 2+hrs of blasting, dynamic harsh noise of excellent quality. Not really a surprise but a welcome reminder of what got me into SE in the first place 13 years prior.

Sewer Election availability seems worse than ever? If you consider from perspective of being able to buy some new release. I guess it is all instagram announcements for handful of copies, sold in minutes of announcement? Not like I'd be grabbing CDR's anyways, but one would assume there would be couple hundred people willing to get them. S.E. / Lila Engel CD was great. I can re-listen than instead of getting handful of cdr's I guess..
