I got Rucci’s 8-bit synth a long time ago (basically the Minimal Drone but with kinda toy laser sounds) and it’s actually surprisingly fun, but definitely not as usable as the Drone boxes sound. But for quality of build and board, Mike makes some really fantastic boxes.

I have been eyeing up his cv Sequencer, but with import tax and shipping it starts getting pricey. His kit does indeed look solid.

As a delay I love Chronos Noisemaker w' od/distortions and tremolo

I can’t find any decent demo videos of this one. What’s it sound like?

We use a Rucci drone box in one of my bands. Really nice build quality and very good oscillator sounds. It's a nice device to add extra layers of sounds when you perform.

I'm glad I picked up the Drone box now since a few of you are into it. I watched the demo on it a couple of times and still a bit reluctant but I fee now I made a good choice

Hahaha, this perfectly describes how I feel. I finally bought a Minimal Drone on Thursday, should be here today already I’m pretty jazzed about it. Kinda feel like a bandwagoner now though...haha.

I just got done playing around with mine for a few hours and its actually a lot more fun than I initially thought it would be even after the comments in this thread. I just ran mine through a DS-1 and a MXR EQ and it was giving me some nice heavy tones after I got it adjusted to something I liked, I'm really looking forward to see what else I can do with it now

I started out with the Maximal and Minimal Drone synths when I first went down this path, and I found that I quickly outgrew them even with the 8-step sequencer. I passed them on and primarily use a custom semi-modular from Synthrotek but Michael Rucci's new 16-step sequencer is a BEAST.

All of his items are clearly top notch, from the actual construction to their functionality. I love this sequencer because it has various patterns that add even more versatility to the total of 16 steps. I plan on picking up his power supply and passive mixer soon simply because I know they'll be reliable and will significantly clean up my workspace.

Awesome thread. I'm a crusty old man so I stick with my 4ms Noiseswash and my Boss OD pedals and Sirkut Electronics boxes. Nothing special. But I did happen along a custom noise box made by Electro Lobotomy a few months ago. However I find a lot of noise-targeted gear a bit too random to control for my style.

A friend I'm collaborating with is letting me run through a Harmonic Percolator - STUNNING shit! Hard to explain the tone exactly, but it sounds like clean, clattering steel when paired with a contact mic and scrap. Very unique, harsh, and controllable.

I am about to sell off my Great Destroyer pedal; it's just kind of stupidly hard to tune in to anything remotely usable. Doubly annoying that none of the controls actually correspond to what they're labeled at; e.g. volume doesn't affect volume, gain doesn't affect gain...there might be good tones in there but 90% of the time it's just a kind of lame clipped tone. Sounds like a busted input in a bad way. It does slightly better with a synth but I'm just not seeing what others see in it.

What's been catching you eyes lately?

I just got a Montreal Assembly PurPLL and jesus fucking christ I wish I would have found this thing sooner. I started off with a Rucci Minimal Drone, sized up to the Maximal Drone, spent like $400 on a custom semi-modular drone/noise synth, bought a bunch of Electrolobotomy pieces, and sold them all off only to discover that this $200 pedal is what I've been looking for all this time. It's seriously a mystery that the PurPLL never hit my radar because it's the best bang for the buck in this department and I have NO idea how I missed it. Apparently these have been out for years. It's a phase-locked loop pedal with a fuzz at its core and a square wave oscillator built in. The division/multiplication functions with the LFO provide a ridiculous amount of rhythm and bizarre distortion artifacts and the resonance is SO USABLE. It interacts extremely well with other modulation pedals. I don't understand how this thing costs as little as it does, it's a full-fledged effects pedal that I use with my bass but it is worth the price tag for the drone synth alone. It is only one oscillator but it goes further than other dual-oscillator synths I've used for the same purposes. Scalping is ridiculous on Reverb but they're still in stock at mtl.asm.
