S·Core,

...always escaped me. But the interest is there. So - recommendations would be welcome. And possible interesting stories/trivia too.

Strömkarlen

I haven't heard them all, fram from it but I always love the Pretension tape om Staalplaat. Great mix of tribal and industrial feel.

I would say ANY cd and vinyl will be satisfactory. Debut 7", LP on Praxis Dr. Bearmann,.. my favorites maybe, but it has more personal reasons. Musically, I can't make up my mind, but never been dissatisfied.

I have liked more or less everything I have head. "Sediment" CD has really good organic rumbles, also easy to get for a cheap price, so maybe best to recommend that. Need to dig it out for listening again.

Maybe already considered, but in my books S-Core would seem like a perfect candidate for Industrial Recollections.

Anytime someone can arrange contact for this guy, I'm happy to make him a offer.
He seems to have disappeared. I have been asking from people for years...

At least there exists very much material out there for cheap prices.

I have a soft spot for the LP on Zabriskie Point and the 7" on Drone. The tape on Extreme was also very good - seemed to be in the transitional period between earlier, more synthy, and the later "muddy" industrial. I bought the "Pretention" tape on Strömkarlens recommendation but didn't care for it that much actually - too much out-of-tune drumprogramming for me.

We should make a thread on low-key groups which was never part of any "extreme" movement, only good and interesting material...

Seems so... Just bought Sediment for 3.99 €...

How is the "Crime" CD on Daft? Considering I enjoy the "Missing Volume" LP and that it also was released in 1998 I might like it but i've been holding back since it was on Daft - maybe a foolish argument?

I listened to the LP again last night and I still think it's one of his best works. There is very little (if at all) interference throughout from keyboard melodies, only lo-fi industrial in the true sense of the word. Some of the tracks sounds like its pitched down recordings from car tunnels, in various layers. Beautiful, haunting stuff.
More groups should focus on this thin type of sound instead of the brute force of more traditional overtly "male" clichésound.

what's wrong with Daft?  :-p

I recall there should have been more extensive topic about him, but... well, lets use this.
Don't remember when I had bought S*Core "Morbid Muppets" tape, but there is hand written price sticker saying NON and 5$. It must have been from some store years ago. Anyway, brilliant tape, what makes many of his "albums" pale in comparison, even if I have never heard bad S*Core album either.

1986 release, one side has long track. Other multiple short ones. Especially long piece of A-side should satisfy anyone into gloomy and dark post-mortem sound. Those who worship current bands like Alfarmania, should be impressed by this. Multi-layered, slow, oppressive sound wall. Ritualistic sounds, screeching metal & physical noises, lo-fi clatter and deep echoing bell sounds all melting together. Someone has loaded full a-side on youtube, but it has quite horrid mp3 "vibrations". At least my original tape sounds way nicer. But you get the overall atmosphere: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LaDxJvpQFpk

On other side there are more rhythmic pieces too, but also this kind of dark and sinister sounding industrial waste. I noticed there are couple copies at discogs. I would say worth of slightly higher prices too...

I recently bought two tapes: Gush from 1990 (at least that's the year of release) is very good, as has been stated in this thread already. Riutalistic, dark, suffocating lo-fi atmosphere. Undersong from 1987 is not as good, but this is partly due to the crappy sound quality. I don't know if my copy was just badly dubbed, but it sounds really weak and bassy, with a lot of details being lost or just barely audible. Apart from this, the music is similarly dark as Gush, but more rhythmic at times with some ritualistic drumming here and there. Some tracks are not too exciting, like the final track on side B during which not much happens, but it goes on for nearly 15 minutes. Still, I don't regret buying the tape.
I also bought the My Candle Has Died LP, but haven't listened to it yet.
I'll have to look into buying Morbid Muppets and some other tapes, if they're affordable... And I'll have to get the first 7" too.

I wish Tanaka hadn't disappeared. I'd love to have a reissue of S·Core tapes on CD or vinyl.

Zugzwang Productions

I only have Dross and Infant, and really enjoyed the latter. I am going to look into all your recommendations.

impulsemanslaughter

I only have the 7"s and they are all great!

Zeno Marx

I have several tapes as MP3s from an old blog that is probably now defunct.  Not the best listening situation, but beggars can't be choosers.  If anyone would like them, I can upload them.  12 tapes and a few comps.
"the overindulgent machines were their children"
I only buy vinyl, d00ds.

Does anyone know Man Decade? It was a trio in the mid-'80s including Yutaka Tanaka, the guy behind S·Core. It's an extremely obscure project that released two tapes and a 7" according to Discogs. According to the site, almost no one has any of them. One track from one of the tapes is on YouTube and it's quite good. Would love to hear more. I guess there's no chance of this material ever being reissued due to the same reason S·Core stuff isn't being reissued either.
