Does Father Ted count as English? I mean, it's funnier than death but does it count?

The episode with the town fair is absolutely cult.

missing from the Chris Morris worship appears to be 'blue'-a TV extension of the radio version 'blue jam'.
this was repeated later in the week with colours tweaked and vocals echoed a bit to be more fucked up when you came home from the pub on a Friday.
the whole series was tucked as it was free of pastiche of TV staples such as sitcom, news.
don't think he could of got more out there than this-bit like Ballard and atrocity exhibition.

Spike Milligan (both as solo and with the Goon show)-

not forgetting his Q series, at least part revealing his mental health issues as his comedy (and the casual sexism and racism of the time)

Father Ted is 100% to be considered relevant here. Primarily because of its brilliance but it must also be mentioned this is due to its being a channel 4 production rather than an Irish show that got licensed.

100% English production with arguable Irish intent.lat's face it, we all hate the catholic
whichever, funny as fuck in all episodes.
even funnier with repeats.
let's face it, we all hate the catholic church hierarchy, with all it's dirty baggage
