Living in Italy i never had the chance to see Emil Beaulieau live, but i always appreciated the videos. Also i wonder if he'll be back to action anytime soon?

My favorite Emil records:
Moonlight In Vermont
Bigfoot
Memories

cipher chris

My favourite is the personalised cassettes RRRon was doing for a while; packaging is just amazing and VERY Ron, the sound is just fantastic too.  Does anyone else have one they just LOVE?

I'm also partial to:
Chop Shop plays Emil (really more a Chop Shop album, but hey it's just incredible)
Merzbow/Emil Live In Chicago LP
Born In The USA and PS I Love You both on Hospital (the former is a reissue, originally on Abnormal)

The solo CDs/LPs have never quite got to that same level for me, although there's nothing wrong with any that I've heard, either.

My personal favorites remain Pure series discs:
*Memories - for it primitive and simple approach. A must for those who liked Americanoise comp tracks!
*Dedicated to Masami Akita
*Dedicated to Richard Rupenus

latter remains possibly still THE best TNB "collaboration".

I know I am probably biased towards early amazing experiences - and these were the first ones I got.

As for live gigs, I have seen Emil play maybe... 10 times? Mostly thanks to Yankee Know-How tour. First gig I saw was 2003 London, and it blew my mind. Was it TNB who had just finished - when suddenly instead of DJ music, noise hits the PA at full volume. A lot of people are wondering what is happening, but suddenly you see movement in crowd behind you and there is Emil playing in middle of hall - doing his dressing up routine - but also delivering noise to perfection. It is very rare case when "humor noise" captures on such level - but it was most certainly best act of the night and there was pretty intense line-up.

I got hours of video footage as well as audio recordings of Yankee Know How tour. Some of the stuff is brilliant. Intent to do DVD release or DVD+CD release has been bending for years... but maybe, there would be still demand for it? There is probably 1 hour of Prurient video interviews. 30 mins of music, 30 mins of blowjobs. Not sure if he'd want all that published now, haha!

That DVD would be well received I would hope.

Had many discussions with Bob from Xome on the subway about his tour with Prurient & Emil Beaulieau in Dom's van, not too many details I remember, or Bob remembered, but I could imagine those gigs must have been amazing night after night.

I really like Damaged / Destroyed as it has a tight sound.

Americas Greatest Noise 2xLP is his most rapresentative work in my opinion. If i recall correctly Emil destroys Pain Jerk here. Most of what already mentioned are must-have classics. All the video VHS i got from him years back are something i couldn't ever get rid off, too.

I love the 7" that Emil put out on Tochnit Aleph, the "Destruction Of Output" where he messes up Con-Dom, Column One, Dachise & Astro. Short, sharp and to the point (of noise). This was my first introduction to Emil...simply the best.

Let's give this a bump-o.

Currently spinning Abusing the Little Ones (Self Abuse Records)

All based upon Ron's mangling of Self Abuse 7" series.  Took a bit of volume cranking at first and has quite a thin sounds, honing in on lots of high pitched squeals for the most part.  Once you get adjusted it's a great record.  Seems like a lot of long drawn out scree and tones get exercised amidst some very choice moments of lofi chaos.  Several artists getting remixed here but I've not really been interested in examining who is who.  You can tell when something in a more industrial/PE vein is getting murdered though and it makes for a really effective and worth having LP overall I think.

Any new thoughts/news/insights into the world of Emil? Seems like Ron is probably totally uninterested in putting out more work or contributing to things besides (the already plentiful) task of running RRR these days.  It's a shame but understandable.  Emil Beaulieau has got to be one of my favourite noise acts of all time though and is unmatched in the way it touches upon so many angles but seems to work.  How many harsh noise artists can get away with doing a shitty version of Ursonata at a gig instead of any 'noise' and still have it meet every expectation you'd have?

I'm gutted I never got to see him and that my discovering noise as a living, breathing, operating thing of it's own happened just a few ball hairs away from what, in retrospect, was a pretty golden era for foreign artists touring the UK.

this was my first experience of rrr Ron amidst a night of superb bands
saw again 12 to18 months later at same venue with similarly great line up-thanks due Gaia.
