I am not a big fan of these genres but I would like to prove here that there are many interesting projects which break stereotypes and create the very great music, sometimes much more valued than many industrial/PE/noise acts. The first, which I could recommend, is the Polish KALIBER 44, who was active in 90s (more about them here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaliber_44).

Drugs glorification, art/music as a tool to fight against society/culture, enter to magic, occult and satanism, will to be outside of society - all of that in great, very impressive lyrics, full of metaphors, multilayered and ambiguity. Full recommendation.

"I'm big Kenny and I like crack,
I beat her in the face til her eyes went black!"

...evidently a piss-take from the Skinny Puppy crew, though I recall reading an interview with Kevin Key where he half-seriously claimed all the 80's rap artists ripped off Dig It
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CDKkRSUrTd8

"Boils bitten haggard pick vomit kicking out
Razor slide black eye shroud brain bespattered jaw"

Yup, clearly that's where Ghostface stole his stream-of-cosciousness style...

...but I personally think God's Gift (Maggot) is the greatest rap track ever

Fuck hip-hop. What should have been a worthy addition the the cannon of Black American music has turned into the the most worthless cock-suck of US capitalism. Ayn Rand would have hated the music (since she had the aesthetics of an lower-rung Nazi bureaucrat) but would have loved the message of corporate, arse-kissing, money-rooting rap stars that infest what hip-hop is today and would have tongue-loved hip-hop's gold and jewel encrusted knob to ejaculation just to get it's greasy slime on her puckered face before turning to the cameras to tell a brain-dead, absorbent world how wonderful it is that morons can free-form rotten blank verse celebrating the "virtures" of money, drugs, money, ridiculous consumer items, money and their own shattered, scattered, hand-jobbed egos over the vilest, least imaginative, derivative beats known to humanity. Hip-hop has evolved like a mutant Dalek into the cancer of modern music, from a lean, keen, killing machine to some kind of "and the winner is" furniture muzak. Fuck it. Hard. Up the arse. With a great fucking bowie knife. Then snap it off at the handle and leave it to fester up the gaping clacker of "da game". Fuck hip-hop.

Public Enemy, Cannibal Ox, some Digable Planets and that's about it. The rest can get raped.
Shikata ga nai.

Don't hold back dude, say what you really think ;)

It's a genre of limited worth and diminishing returns. In the 80s I liked Public Enemy, LL Cool J, Eric B & Rakim, Roxanne Shante, Schooly D, first Beastie Boys album. In the 90s, Dr Dre 'The Chronic', Gravediggaz and MC Eiht/Comptons Most Wanted. HATED the idiotic Snoop and Tupac as soon as they appeared. In recent times, quite enjoy some Nicki Minaj and Azealia Banks as well as Odd Future stuff.

Have you watched the JAY Z tour film Backstage from 2000? It contains everything you just said in your rant. Rockstar hubris and vulgarity turned up to 11. It's quite fascinating to watch.

"Howdy ya'll. This is Bernie Crosshouse, yours truly of the KKK. I would like to express our deepest gratitude at the destruction of the inferior Negro race. And I'm especially pleased to report that it is destroyin' itself without our help. To all you gangs, hoodlums, drug pushers and users and other worthless niggers killin' each other, we'd like to thank ya'll for savin' us the time, trouble and legality for the final chapter of riddin' ya'll off the face of the Earth. Your solution to our problem is greatly appreciated, so keep sellin' us your soul. Thank ya!!!"

- Public Enemy

EDIT This actually appears at the end of the recording from which GEWALTMONOPOL`s youtube clip is taken, but unfortunately does not appear on the clip. Would really be the crowning of that video.

...and given that Dig It is all about economic slavery, it seems they still are. Ripping off Skinny Puppy I mean. Just a bit more literally now.

"In the graveyard Key begins filling in an open grave filled with various office supplies, while this is occurring Ogre is singing a refrain that contains the line, `execute economic slave.`"
