Anyone witness the tour they're on yet? Will be in close proximity to a show on Sunday. Thinking about giving it a go.

Is the version of M.B. December 21, 1984 any different on the VOD boxset than the old Mute/Grey Area release?

It is now finally confirmed: Laibach is going to North Korea!!! In August 2015, Laibach will become the first such band ever to perform in the secretive Democratic People's Republic of Korea, a reclusive garrison state as well-known for its military marches, mass gymnastics and hymns to the Great Leader, as for its defiant resistance to Western popular culture. The concerts are currently scheduled for the 19th and 20th of August.

some opinion about this?

I hope they bring some footage from the event as a proof.

edit: nvm, read this from their website: 'The concerts will also be subject of a documentary film scheduled for premiere in 2016.'

I think this has potential to be quite awesome event.

>Weird that Laibach goes protesting against something that took place over 70 years ago, yet shows no criticism whatsoever to the current tyranny reigning in North Korea.

in a way, interesting to question their motivations for the move because I personally automatically took it as just another provocation and maybe laibach's way to bring revolutionary music and message to people who generally aren't allowed to hear such things at all costs.

Whatever their motivations, you can be sure winding up the regime will be among them. And, I dare say, curiosity and genuine interest.

I also don't doubt they'll be under severe restrictions. Not just access to the rest of the country outside of their hotel rooms and "escorted" tours of the city, but in what can and can't be said and performed. I wonder if they take that as an aesthetic challenge.

For years, people whinged about Laibach being "Nazis". Maybe they just miss the good old days of controversy.

And maybe they're just in it for the money. All that counterfeit US lucre must count for something.

"Daaaveeeee"

Anyway very curious what they are going to do. Laibach have been always keen on provocation and brefriending weirdos. In Italy they played for left wing organizations, while playing on the same tour for right wing organizations in France.
That is going to be very interesting.

Join Laibach's 35th Anniversary on July 4th 2015 in their native town of Trbovlje, at the Delavski dom Trbovlje (Workers Home) cultural center. The program will include material from the upcoming North Korean Liberation Day Tour in August, for which Laibach is reinterpreting the actual songs from the Sound of Music musical (The Sound of Music, Do-Re-Mi, Climb Every Mountain and Edelweiss). On top of it Laibach will also perform selected Korean historic and popular songs. More info: http://www.laibach.org/35th-anniversary/

this is incredible.
