NYHC
some things don't change.  I sure would like to see Mackie play...but probably not at such a price.

Been listening to a lot of California Hardcore from the 90's lately, Redemption 87, Built To Last, Fury 66 and my favorite Straight Faced. Never really realized how good the stuff coming out of the East Bay and Southern Cali in the 90's was.

blitz - new age

Blitz is great, both the classic streetpunk/oi era and Second Empire Justice (even though that was just a fraction of the band). I love how you can really hear that element in their music long before they completely changed their sound, obviously on New Age/Fatigue but also on earlier ones like Warriors, Your Revolution, Bleed etc. There's a hint of more complex song structures, lyrics that probably took a bit longer to write than "We are the boys..." etc.
Nothing unique to Blitz though, a friend of mine wrote a blog post about this song under the title "I can't believe it's not goth":

playing out like a day-time series:

"You can all thank Harley Flanagan for ruining the night for everyone," Cro-Mags lead singer John Joseph McGowan told the crowd.

also J.J. don't forget to thank James Dressler Jimmy Gestapo
for inciting harley the day before the show putting the buzz in his ear to fuck over the cro-mags, sick of it all show. telling harley That he needs to man up and take a stand against J.J. getting harley high and strung out to commite a violent act against the scene. it is known that Jimmy G smuggled the knife in by band equiptment and hide it in the vip telling harley where to find it the next day to use it against the band. jimmy gestapo dressler is just as fault and guilty for inciting harley to commit attemped murder. James dressler also back stabbed a fellow member DMS by having harley stab gook in the vip. thats why harley didn't do it at the a.f. show and mike gook was there for harley to get revenge. but jimmy told him to get gook and J.J. The next day at cro-mags and soia instead so it wouldn't ruin the m.l. show with a.f. the day after. Jimmy gestapo and harley will both have to face the facts soon for there actions. Harley should have never listen to James dressler/ Jimmy gestapo. a real sad chapter in nyhc history.

ABC Diabolo - Give Rise to Doubts 1995 - talk about something possibly ahead of its time.  crossover prog HC.  still has that crossover thrash feel of their 1st album (which is a bona fide crossover/thrash classic in my opinion), but the songs are like an advanced His Hero is Gone or Result insofar as songwriting.  smart album.  Sort of like the Virus of HC.  That's a lazy thing to say, but it has that fine line of raw emotion and the cerebral that many don't seem to understand or are able to capture.

what's the deal with pv types being dismissive of industrial?

anyways, I dig NYHC, Boston HC, both the edge stuff and the drug bands, hate DC hardcore besides early Minor Threat, Void and Bad Brains. art fag central.
some SoCal stuff is ok in small doses, the Midwest had an underrated scene with the Meatmen and Negative Approach and Die Kreuzen. I dig a lot of Japanese hardcore, I'm not too
schooled on Euro stuff aside from Larm and a few Swedish and Finnish d-beat bands. I only like American punk that's not hardcore, hate the Pistols, hate the Clash (well, strong word, I can tolerate them to an extent), but IMO most UK punk pre 1982 is awful, and fuck anarcho.

Recently really been into late 90's Hardcore. Kill Your Idols, Creep Division and In My Eyes have been spinning endlessly. I probably shouldn't say this here but I've been liking a lot of Endstand early 00's material, like Fire Inside.

TKO is reissuing all the early work from Poison Idea. May order the 2 LPs that are currently available; I think I sold or traded "Pick Your Kings" so wouldn't mind having it again. I was just informed that someone I've met did the remastering.

Cool!

The Poison Idea radio set is just top notch from this early era for musicianship and style.
Pick Your King will always have a special place in my heart.
