Amazing. You missed my big rant on how awesome New Lows is earlier in the thread. Good shit.
Oh, I didn't miss it.  It was partly the reason I was laughing at this thread and where it was probably headed.  I thought both sides of that exchange were absurd.

Regardless, I'm glad you enjoy New Lows as well. I wished they would tour, I want to see "The Pounding and the Hollering" performed live.

I think New Lows represent a side of hardcore I like to pretend doesn't exist...all that moshy, sub-metal shite, how did they come to that conclusion?

Because they probably didn't want to sound like the endless amounts of traditional hardcore bands out there.

Then again Think I Care was excellent. Anyone on here enjoy those guys besides me?

Definitely never much of a fan of the moshy metallic hardcore type stuff but thought bands like Gehenna, Ire, Catharsis and Unruh were decent.  Played on the same show with Catharsis with some shitty band I filled in on bass for a long time ago.  I remember their set being pretty good.

That King of the Monsters group of bands was interesting.  Suicide Nation - A Requiem for All That Ever Mattered had a lot of black metal influence.  I don't know how good it was, but it wasn't terrible like one could reasonably assume.  Unruh was one of my favorite bands of the 90s.  Misery Strengthened Faith is heavy, raw, well-written in a young way, and really the only band that I felt were good enough to stand next to His Hero is Gone.  Ryan Butler wrote some great guitar parts in his various bands.  I never understood Gehenna or Catharsis.  I tried.  I failed.

Ire, Jihad, Union of Uranus, and the other Canadian bands with huge riffs were pretty cool.  And then there were bands like Seized, which were lesser known and just monstrous in sound.  That band was great.  Inertia Kills and Swallowing Shit were that grindy, speedy side of Canada.  Swallowing Shit had some sharp lyrics.  I liked that band a lot.

I love the band Swallowing Shit (a few of them went on to I Spy and then of course Propagandhi), one of the best Grind bands to exist next to Assuck.

Weird that you mention King of the Monsters, I just sold $80.00 worth of records which included pretty much everything I had from that label (90's stuff), Unruh, Absinthe, Prevail, Suicide Nation and Creation Is Crucifixion. Bands like Jihad, Otawa, Scapegrace and Union of Uranus were some of the best bands from that era. I had a huge, huge collection of stuff from Hardcore/Emo bands from 92-98 but have sold most of it now for easily over $2,000.00 altogether. So many people are looking for this stuff now, it's weird.

Know anyone who needs a Swallowing Shit T-shirt?  Never worn.  Brand new.  Holed skull on the front and "if you can prove god exists then I'll hate god" on the back.

New Deviated Instinct 4-song 12" (nearly 20 minutes long) is really strong.  Not a weak song.  Lots of interesting influences and yet put together in smart fashion. I usually dislike these reunion novelties, but I'll add this to the other fifth of one percent of reunion albums and gigs that are worth a gargle.
