Going to be one hell of a Saturday.
To say the least!
Agreed. Damien Dubrovniks latest tape and lp have been played a lot in my appartment, so this is some of the best news of the springtime.

Eleczema started. All the tracks with loud shouted vocals worked pretty well, but early part of set and transitions of simple multi-effect/flanger feedback moments etc between was not working really. Drastic volume changes through out the set etc. Most of all it was played very quiet. Not sure if soundman or just the type of sound, but it was very quiet compared to rest.

Forza Albino was like trademark power electronics. Two guys with synths and vocalist. Simple Korg and I guess... wasp buzzing noise and quite clean shouted vocals. Pussyboy track from debut tape opened set and followed with samples of transexual/sex change operations, HIV and such. Vocalist was crushing microphones on his blood dripping bruised face. I think sonically tape worked better for audio-ear-candy, but aggression and simplicity of rock set-up PE works well for me in live situation.

Jaakko Vanhala with his filterbank/pedal/shakebox/etc noise took stage next. He was first to fully use to power of PA system. From deepest subwoofer rumble to high pitched detailed crispy electronics. Always everything happening on all frequencies and everything moving very fast. His set was not aggressive like Forza Albino, but instead simply pure energy! Joyful noise bliss what seemed to appeal the crowd the most and what can I say? Simply great stuff.

Damien Dubrovnik was two member unit. Already known from LP's etc. If you combined Pleasureground era Prurient with little hints of euro PE and let Danish enthusiasm and energy mangle the mix, this is probably what comes? It's at the same time kind of structured synth industrial type of stuff as it is the simple two-microphone-feedback-creaming over bassy keyboard sounding tone. It has physical metal object abuse, it has samplers and such. Stage presence is filled with energy and movement. It is not the back towards audience noise making noise in corner, but wild and interesting to watch the wriggling soon-to-be-shirtless fagginess (in the positive meaning of word that is! hah!). Set was longest anyone did today, and it worked easily till the end.

Good night!

absolutely great evening. also the gallery closing sermon was intense.

eleczema had tons of sounds again, to me the dynamic variation was welcome, in the front row it was pretty ok loud!? albinos were much more aggressive white niggers than in turku. even some pit action going?! vanhala sounded incredible. dubrovniks were rippin it. i think everyone agrees that this was a killer evening.

once again la bas proved to be a great place for this kinda gigs, i think the best possible?! but once again the mini-PA was aching, apparently the left side high ends died AGAIN. we need more guitar + bass amps, it would be a shame to lose the possibility to work with this venue.

Yeah, even with the soundguy having proper limiters etc., Damien Dubrovnik managed to burn the high ends of two of the 4 speakers already during soundcheck. Luckily the PA was still usable after that, although on a bit lower volumes. Having the amps helped. This was, what, already the fifth time? The soundguy didn't seem too humorous about it. I wouldn't mind playing on just a row of amps and just a little bit of PA (or no PA at all), but it's perfectly understandable why DD for example need more "hifi" setup.

Great night!

Forza Albino also ripped already 3 PA systems apart? Göteborg I wish you good luck tonight, haha.

Eleczema was too much like a rehearsal, trying out different things and jumping to next. For once I was hoping for more yelling!

I can understand the Forza appeal, stripped down classic synths squeals (Wasp + Korg, possible to get more classic?) and "offensive" stage act (off-stage this time) but somewhat school book like. Audience confrontation seemed somewhat silly (says the back row sissy boy).

Vanhala's performance was along the same lines as in the tour last spring, perhaps with a bit more confidence and grinning. Refreshing to hear such great noise every once in while. Wish it had been louder!

To me Daniel Dubrovnik performance was probably the best PE gig I have seen in a long time. Musically varied and worked well over the whole (fairly long) duration. As Mikko pointed out, enthusiasm and energy shone through all the way. Need to return to their LP as it didn't impress too much initially.

Earlier in the evening Grunt offered a glimpse of his new direction (?). More scrape-y and "acoustic" with less pulsing PE synth. To my ear this sounded more dirty and sonically rich, looking forward where it will get.

All in all very enjoyable evening!

Hear hear, very delightful night! Too bad the beer ran out, but that seems to be the case with Là-bas.

The PA issue should be dealt with the way JV proposed. Since the place has had its share broken down PA's in the past all future noise happenings should be equipped with an amp wall. Saves time and a gallon of sweat.
