note reference to carpet knives that in UK are known as Stanley knives, a common weapon of football hooligans in times past.
they would put two blades in and separate them so that the resulting cut could not be sutured, leaving an almighty scar.

In Italian is called "taglierino" (little cutter), and in the 90's was the standard alternative to syringes for junkies/hiv positive criminals to extort money and rob people, especially in post offices and shops.

seems to have lost popularity, even with junkies who  as far as media go, don't threaten with syringes in recent years.

as far as drug stories go it is' legal' highs getting it. noting that these are no longer legal in UK.
stories are similar to early ecstasy fatality stories

Ouch.

In the UK, Italy, etc., is it legal to carry a pocket knife?

In Texas, the overall length of the knife has to be under or no more than 9 inches. I'm not sure it matters whether it's a folder or not. I don't think a dagger is legal to carry (double-sided blade). I've never seen anyone with a large hunting knife sheath on their belt, just those carrying a large folder. Automatic knives are legal to own but not to carry unless you work as a EMT or law enforcement.

here you cannot bring around blades that are longer than 4 fingers.
I supposed you can have them as tools (see stanley knife, kitchen knife, swiss knife, leatherman), but if you have it with you when just walking around you get fined.
a swiss friend of mine got arrested (no kidding) for a swiss army knife of ridicolous size.

Restrictions on Carry in Texas:

It is illegal to conceal or open carry any knife with a blade over 5 ½ inches long
It is illegal to conceal or open carry throwing stars or any type of throwing knife
It is illegal to conceal or open carry dirks, daggers, stilettos, and other stabbing knives
It is illegal to conceal or open carry a bowie knife
It is illegal to conceal or open carry a sword or spear

The same site says "gravity knives" are illegal but butterfly knives are legal to own. I think they're the same? I don't know what a dirk is, either.

I use to carry a pocket knife every day but I've gotten out of the habit.

A dirk is a Scottish word for knife. You can see Scotsman wearing them stuck into the side of their socks when they wear a kilt.

UK laws on knives are very restrictive.
even 'legal' knives can get you arrested if the context makes it an offensive weapon. so for example you can have knives lawful within the context of hunting or fishing etc but if they are found on you, rather than in your equipment, you could be arrested for carrying an offensive weapon.
slightly more lightheartedly, zombie hunting knives are to be outlawed. seems people may not restrict use to zombies. who would have guessed?

"The victim escaped on the way to Atlantic City, when the group stopped at a Gloucester City residence. The victim went inside and called the police, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office."

South Jersey sex trafficking... I guess some people aren't as good at it.
