Liquore Strega. This is one of my favorite liquors, although very few people like it. It's made with saffron. Unfortunately, having drunk excessive quantities in the past, for a while I'll have to avoid drinking it. I don't know if you can find it out of Italy....

My favorite beer ever is Boddingtons. It is creamy (called the cream of "Manchester") and thick, the taste is kind of bitter meets a standard Ale. I would say a bit like Fosters but thick like Guiness:

I know this is old but had to quote, great fuckin' beer, goes amazing with steak, burgers, anything fatty 'n' greazzzy.

So strange for me to see you guys into this stuff. It's pretty much my local beer and at one point was sold in just about every pub in the area (lager took over from the 1980s onwards).

Can't stand it myself but probably as I threw up on it too much age 14 or so!

Out of interest, how do Swedes view Rekoderlig cider? I started getting into the pear flavour a couple of years ago and notice it's much more available domestically now. I like it, especially the "winter" flavour, but much of it seems a bit too sweet and gimmicky.

In the meantime, this is my usual tipple -

- although a special occasion can call for -

- although they used to have a more fetching yellow label.

My father and I have visited this winery and it's a lovely, scenic area. And their cellars smell wonderful.

Samuel Smith Nut Brown Ale  - good, one of the better nut browns I've had
Bell's Two Hearted IPA - pretty solid IPA in the $10/6pk price range
homebrew irish dry stout and belgian wit

Was at a nice German beer hall the other day and had these two:

Not super strong alcohol content but very nice flavor. Something I could drink often.

Really, really nice Belgian triple. Highly recommended.

I have to say... and now that I think about it I may have even said it here before, but I really don't like Sam Adams. To me, they make bland versions of good beer types. I mean they're good, but generally not something I like to buy.

Sam Smith's Pure Brewed Lager yesterday - an excellent independent UK pub chain with their own breweries.

Here for any non-UK residents is a good portrait of our town centres every weekend, I have mentioned the wild west element and why I'm glad we don't own guns before.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q3tirSGoT6c

I guess I didn't take part of topic yet? I've never had any problems with alcohol, and most of all, my tastes are to lets say in the most bourgeois manner: "enjoy it responsibly", hah!

I guess it was few years ago, when I made conscious decision to drink most of all whisky, and more precisely almost exclusively single malt isley whiskies. If bottle price is related to quality, what I buy, is not a liquid to drink to get smashed. You'll enjoy and savour the taste and smell, yet perhaps less faggy way than in the wine & cheese clubs. Generally pour glass, put some vinyl on rotation and browse books. Some periods I may drink 1-2 shots every night, or just couple days a week or not at all for some time.

Currently dealing with 12 year old Caol Ila. It's good. Last year drank one too. This year have gone through perhaps... 3-4 different brands and last year more. And year before..  Most of bottles I keep in attic so I can remember what exactly have been drinking, yet also return to some favorites like Lagavulin, Ardbeg, Glenlivet, Laphroiag, Talisker, etc...   Most often, the more smoky, the peaty, and generally fierce, the better. Right kind of bitterness, not crappy cheap bitterness.
Unfortunately the alcohol culture here is not the most advanced, hah, so availability is often problem. Advantage of traveling is the tax free airport purchases.

Been thinking about trying to sometime set up show as excuse to get myself to visit Islay.
