Lots of raw and great stuff from the Grey Wolves crew done over the years, what remains far away from the glory & fame what GW enjoys.
Just listened Irritant / Ramleh split tape. Zero Cabal version, which is different from original Extreme release and Sound of Pig tape. 2 long tracks, clocking about 30 minutes in total. Starts with obligatory nostalgic euro hymn and two tracks, "British Blood" and "Assault Systems" are back-to-basics electronic noise. Perhaps radio static. Perhaps synth. Feedback, distant vocal assaults. Somewhere in nature of Victor/im, Ramleh at their most lo-fi, early days Con-Dom, etc.
I'm checking out discogs, and noticed these two same tracks seem to appear on AWB's version Irritant/Lovelace split tape? There is two other tapes, "Mesmerised" on Broken Flag and "Disaster Area" on Victor/im's label simply called V. Latter seems like C-90, BF, who knows.. I wonder how are they? I've liked all I hear. It's really disturbing, cheap and "unappealing" to anyone but those who seek for most damaged PE sounds.

Most noteworthy of these early projects what many happened before GW did the "comeback" of theirs in form of PE band (as opposed to early style).

I have both split with Ramleh and Disaster Area. Exceptionally primitive work but for those who enjoy more brutal side of Grey Wolves tape-era, this is maybe something. I suppose it can be located on various blogs for download. Some mailorders like Watzmann use to carry old tapes from Zeal SS / Artaman etc. I wouldn't pay fantasy prices for it though. Good recommendation is http://433rpm.blogspot.com

years ago i took over a pile of old GW from someone, i think it's some of the best stuff they did.....

http://www.discogs.com/Grey-Wolves-Red-Terror-Black-Terror/release/1229023
very good one, extremely harsh grating sond, almost no vox....mine has different cover, on Zeal SS

http://www.discogs.com/Grey-Wolves-Legion-Of-Hell/release/116983
structured ritual stuff, weird delayed vocals, like old Sleep Chamber/xxx material, very good one imho...

we all know the reissue? good one!

http://www.discogs.com/viewimages?release=408435
don't know who dubbed mine, looks like extremely faded xerox :-) ....varied sound, from industrial noise to more structured ritual stuff

http://www.discogs.com/Grey-Wolves-Spasm/release/303819
later stuff, one i really didn't like....just too weird drummachine stuff....

http://www.discogs.com/Grey-Wolves-Programmed-To-Kill-No-New-Jerusalem/release/408419
no bass, only high noise.....bad dubbing?

don't remember/need to check first:

only remember the extremely bad dubbing, and that Vidna Obmana/Soundfume don't want to be reminded of this period...lol.

I remember SPASM tape wasn't bad at all. It was very clean if you compare to typical GW tapes, but with beats and synths and vocals, it kind of reminded some tracks of "Catholic Priests.." but with simply very dry production.

Last GW tape I listened was Red Terror, and I like the crude one dimensional approach of many tracks, and recycling of certain elements they tend to use in many different recordings. My version is from Zero Cabal distribution, and sides end quite abruptly. This is case of some tapes what were mastered on C-60, what actually was C-62. And then dubbed to exact C-60...

For example Industrial Recollection's upcoming Nihilist Assaultcore or/and Terror Campaign had this "problem". Music goes on until very last rotations of tape. It's like 62 minutes per side. If you try to dub it on exact c-60... well, result is obvious. I'm glad to report that masters used to make cd transfer were the actual master tapes, so all material is there.

Those comps also include some GW.

Great news about Nihilist Assaultcore & Terror campaign! Both are essential compilations.
I have a good amount of pre-Grey Wolves works on tape. Also tons of printed matter from them. Some is very good, while other suffer from very poor production value... no matter what, flow of good material from them never ends...
I had a friend (steroid pumper) who was "loading" himself with Grey Wolves before going out and collecting debts from people.
Spasm is of superior quality (production-wise) compared to all other tapes I have with them. solid one.  shitlife!

I was indeed surpriced back then with full color cover and all that.

Industrial Recollections has 8 releases February. It will have good variation. All 8 easy to rotate one after another and no feeling of repetition, but simply diverse bands, diverse material.

Irritant's material on the split tape with Ramleh is their highest mark by far of what I have heard. "The Disaster Area" is more one dimensional in organization with manipulated speech, short wave radio and feedback as main sources. Speech typically used as interlude to actual noise itself but with 90 minute duration the entire process becomes a bit of torture to sit through. I remember disliking the tape far more on first listens.

With The Grey Wolves I still hold "Nothing Short of Total War" 2xtape release as the best. Basically excerpts of various recordings with majority of dull moments cut so release itself is the best of the best. Tracks are edited in fashion of one going straight into the next so listener is presented with full 45 minute of industrial noise/pe per side and while length served as downside to Irritant tape mentioned above it works extremely well here. Last side consists of various collaborations which provides even more diversity in single session. Also comes packaged with large booklet. Maybe best collaboration I know of is the joint with Con-Dom found on split with Vandal X (who unfortunately offers weakest material heard so far?).
