Form Hunter LP/CD

Although only active since 2018, the duo of Stefan Aune and Weston Czerkies comprising Form Hunter have already laid extensive sonic foundations of crumbling stone, warped magnetic tape, and resonating metal that continue to drill, pound, and manipulate their way through the American harsh noise landscape on their debut self-titled album.

Form Hunter is the type of project that is a recipe for the perfect noise storm; Aune is known previously for his solo efforts with Breaking The Will and Kjostad, as well as running the extreme noise label New Forces. Czerkies takes credit for a long tenure of industrial, noise music, and beyond with his projects Sunken Cheek and Magnetic Coroner, in addition to operating the Prime Ruin label and it's recent Gracious Host imprint. With limited cassette releases on their own respective labels, Form Hunter have also left behind a shuttered, mangled trail with appearances on White Centipede Noise, Oxen, and Dead Gods. With such a virile introduction for the project, one can only imagine the distillation of fierce power and movement presented on their new album on Found Remains.

Metal scraps of America's almost-forgotten industrial past are scraped and thrusted into a vacant noise space, only to be captured with archaic electronics and churned out through an array of overdrive, tape crunch, and loops that leave the listener dazed and pulverized. An orgy of rusty steel crashing and cracked noise rumble are guaranteed to dilate the pupils and open the adrenal glands of all Americanoise fanatics, yet the only desire in the end is more punishment. Terror Cell Unit Psalm 137:9 CD

Found Remains is proud to present the rerelease of the long sold out Terror Cell Unit album, Psalm 137:9, on pro Digipak CD. Originally released on vinyl in 2018 by Bacteria Field, Psalm 137:9 has been remastered by Grant Richardson (Gnawed) and includes the two songs from the limited cassette, The Same Bird. This CD release also features new collage work by Sam Torres that compliments the collages used on the vinyl edition.

Terror Cell Unit is the stern power electronics duo of Mac Chami (Koufar) and Sam Torres (Crawl of Time). The first shot fired by TCU was on cassette in 2014 on Chami's own label, Crown Tapes, with more shots fired on cassette through accomplices Bacteria Field and Fusty Cunt. These releases dealt with the complexities of American violence, terrorism, and Christ, but it was in 2018 that TCU unleashed their magnum opus, Psalm 137:9.

Psalm 137:9 homed in on the 1995 American tragedy that was the Oklahoma City bombing. Carried out by Timothy McVeigh and accomplice Terry Nichols, a Ryder truck containing over 4,800 pounds of explosives was parked at the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building and detonated remotely; the explosion killed 168 people, 19 of them children, and severely injured hundreds more. Until 9/11, this was the deadliest act of terrorism on American soil and a horrific example of a man's stringent conviction that the government pay the ultimate price for Ruby Ridge and the Waco siege.

Refusing to simply regurgitate the story of the bombing or to showcase the violence for petty shock value, TCU instead thrust themselves into the psyche of McVeigh and the rubble of the bombing to channel the complexities of the tragedy. "Suicide Mission Part I (Planning)" starts the album on a foreboding path with beats creeping in and out as heavily modulated vocals further increase the tension and conjure the image of a radicalized McVeigh repeating excerpts from The Turner Diaries to himself as he drives the Ryder truck to its final destination.

The album picks up the deadly pace on the third track, "Fear God/Hate Man" and reaches a violent peak on the title track, "Psalm 137:9," where TCU lay bare the truly wretched question of how in the Christian heartland could a God possibly allow this to happen. Chami repeatedly screams variations of the psalm, happy is the one who takes your babies and smashes them against the rocks, over frenzied electronics. The track is unsettling in its execution and worse yet that it exemplifies how hundreds of innocents were at the mercy of man's singular rage. The album slows down a bit into track six, "Patriot's Day," where excerpts of news broadcasts and interviews about McVeigh burn among churning noise, but explodes into an assault on the final track, "When The Chickens Come Home To Roost." A tour de force, Psalm 137:9 is an uncompromising power electronics album that can't be matched.

No shocker, but the Form Hunter album is great. Haven't played the CD yet, but vinyl sounds superb - very well mastered/cut. Will be adding to the shop tonight or tomorrow. Praise be to harsh noise albums!
